The Dual-Display YotaPhone Will Be Released in Russia Later This Year
As what we have heard previously, the YotaPhone will take shape as a dual-display smartphone. The phone will make its debut in Russia, followed by other countries possibly including European countries and the United States. The company revealed recently that they are in talk with carriers in various countries, including in the United States.
The YotaPhone may look like an ordinary smartphone, but as we flip it over, many would be surprised to see that the phone has two displays. On one side, the phone is equipped with standard LCD display like other handsets and there’s an electronic paper display on the other side.
The latter is commonly used on various e-book readers and known for its low power usage and excellent visibility under direct sunlight. The phone will be launched in Russia in Q4 2013, followed by other select markets a few months later. The e-paper display allows users to make phone calls, check incoming text message and perform other basic tasks.
